ESG Officer

We are looking to appoint an Environmental, Social and Governance Officer within our Finance, IT and Legal Team. Reporting to our CFO you will be responsible for ensuring the effective integration and implementation of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles and practices across the organization, while also understanding public regulations and meeting the specific needs and requirements of Fred Olsen.

About the role:

The ESG Officer is responsible for ensuring secure automated data flows and reporting, as well as developing key performance indicators (KPIs) and ensuring their achievement. This role aims to continuously improve ESG performance based on data-driven insights and stakeholder input, fostering close dialogue with internal and external stakeholders. Additionally, the ESG Officer will actively participate in Fred Olsen Group's ESG forum, attending weekly meetings aimed at advancing ESG initiatives within the conglomerate.

Job requirements

Key responsibilities;

  • Develop and implement comprehensive ESG strategies, policies, and initiatives aligned with regulatory requirements and tailored to meet the specific needs and expectations of Fred Olsen Group

  • Oversee the establishment and maintenance of secure automated data flows and reporting systems to ensure accurate and timely collection, analysis, and dissemination of ESG-related information

  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders across Business units and departments to integrate ESG considerations into decision-making processes and business operations

  • Drive initiatives to enhance internal awareness and understanding of ESG principles within GWS, fostering a culture of sustainability and responsibility across the organization

  • Manage customer dialogue, including handling customer audits, to ensure alignment with ESG principles and customer expectations

  • Engage with major suppliers with high emissions to collect specific data and drive positive environmental impact

  • Lead the development and implementation of robust ESG performance metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs), tracking progress against targets and driving continuous improvement initiatives

  • Facilitate regular communication and reporting on ESG matters to senior management, the board of directors, and Fred Olsen ensuring transparency and accountability

  • Actively participate in Fred Olsen Group's ESG forum, contributing insights, best practices, and recommendations to advance the organization's ESG agenda.

  • Manage the preparation and coordination of external audits related to ESG performance, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and facilitating the audit process effectively from 2025 onwards

  • Drive initiatives to enhance internal awareness and understanding of ESG principles within GWS, fostering a culture of sustainability and responsibility across the organization

Qualifications

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex ESG data and trends

  • Excellent communication skills both in writing and verbally to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders at all levels

  • Ability to quickly grasp and synthesize new concepts, theories, and developments in the rapidly evolving field of ESG, facilitating continuous learning and adaptation to emerging best practices and industry trends

  • Self-driven and results-oriented, demonstrating initiative, resilience, and determination to achieve ESG objectives and drive positive impact

  • Attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and thoroughness in all ESG-related activities, data analysis, and reporting

  • Collaboration skills, adept at building and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders

  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development in the dynamic field of ESG

  • Master's degree or higher education demonstrating relevant strong theoretical skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with fluency in English
